January with the family

I have finally recovered sufficiently from a busy 3 weeks. Just after christmas mum & dad flew across from Australia to visit. Although things never seemed to go to plan we had a wonderful few weeks together - not as much sight-seeing as we would have liked, but definately alot of snow-seeing!

They spent a week in London while I worked, before we headed up to a cottage in the Cotswalds for 4 days. It was a beautiful spot and the dogs were in heaven having a large yard to romp in. By our first afternoon there though the snow started and set in. And it snowed. And snowed. Leaving us snowed in for a day. By our 3rd day the roads had cleared enough to do some more sighteeing, albeit being restricted in what we could do.

On leaving the cottage we headed further south to somerset, staying at a quaint little hotel in a historic town near Bath.

From there it was across to Wales, where we ended up staying at a country club-type hotel just outside Cardiff. It was a real treat. With the snow still falling on the surrounding golf course, it meant the hotel was quieter and the dogs had a whole golfcourse at their disposal to go romping on. Again we were very limited in what we could do and see, froze our butts off at times, and got caught driving in a blizzard, but it was the perfect chance to unwind.

On leaving wales the dogs got their own holiday in the boarding kennels, and us humans caught the eurostar across to Paris for a few days, where mum & dad flew out from.
