Crufts

Well Crufts has been & gone, and we didnt embarass ourselves too badly which is all I can really ask for. We weren't at our best in agility, but the floor surface was incredibly slippery - more so than normal apparently - which Tooheys really struggled with. He slid on landing after alot of the jumps which was quite off putting for both of us. And when he nearly face-planted in his agility run I just wanted to stop him then & there!
And I am a little concerned about his eye sight - there's been a few things lately that have been niggling at me that he may have the early stages of PRA (a disease that causes loss of vision in ACDs & some other breeds and which Tooheys is 'genetically affected' by), so when he really didnt want to do the cloth tunnel in either of his runs Im wondering whether was due to the lighting. Time for a visit to the eye specialist on the very near future I think.

But, and its a very big but, I am so incredibly proud of how the boy handled himself over the day. He was a little stressed with the environment, but on the whole non-fussed by the masses of other dogs in close proximity (many that kept trying to sniff him), and unfazed by the agility arena with its noise & crowds & bright lights. Im one very happy owner!

I was so proud of you and Tooheys, what a massive occasion for him to take part in and he took it all in his stride. I loved the smile on your face when you put him over the last jump in the agility...it's what it's all about!! Bloomin' well done both of you!!
